How the math works
Final price = original price × (1 − discount% / 100). Savings = original − final.
Example
- Find the listed (pre-discount) price.
- Enter the advertised discount percentage.
- Read savings and the amount you will actually pay.
- If tax or cashback also applies, use the Final Price Calculator next.
Catch the catches
- A 50% discount on $40 is not the same value as 20% off $150 — compare dollars saved, not only percentages.
- Some “discounts” are taken from inflated “was” prices. Compare against the typical street price when you can.
Questions
Does this include tax?
No. It only applies a percentage discount to the listed price. Use the Final Price Calculator if tax or cashback also applies.
Can a discount be more than 100%?
Not in this tool. Percentages are capped at 100 so a data-entry error cannot produce a negative “pay the store” result.
Are these calculators free?
Yes. They run in your browser. You do not need an account, and we do not require personal financial data to use them.
Should I treat the result as a bank or store quote?
No. Results are educational math. Merchants, lenders, and tax rules can differ. Verify the live terms before you pay.
